Session Transaction Isolation Level

It seems like TOAD connects to MySQL using READ COMMITTED by default, and I need to set the connection isolation level to REPEATABLE READ in some environments in order to make table changes or just running insert/updates. Is there any way to change this behavior? I'm using 4.6. Thanks.
