Is the Schema Compare feature functional?

I've installed Toad for MySQL 4.6.0.531 in order to use the Schema Compare feature. However, I can't get past these error messages:
SELECT command denied to user 'my_user'@'my_computer' for table 'user'
And:
SELECT command denied to user 'my_user'@'my_computer' for table 'db'
Quest.Compare.Schema.MySQL.DBModel
There're some forum messages that point this but they haven't received an answer.
Does Toad expect full root privileges in the server? Is the feature supposed to be functional and stable?
