Compare 2 schemas Throws "Object Reference not set to instance" error

I have two databases on the same db server. One is a copy of the production db and one the development db. when I do a schema compare, I get "Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Quest.Compare.Schema.MySql.DBModel" error.
Any suggestions? New to Toad, so have no clue where to start troubleshooting. Tx, TB

I am having the same problem. I have tried using a different server for one database, but it insists on throwing an error.
edit: I am using Toad for MySQL 6.3.0.642 (Freeware)

OK. I found a way around the problem, but it's not a good thing. I did a dump/restore to get the databases onto my laptop from the db server. From a local server, I was able to compare the databases. So there must be something in the network.
Local OS: Windows 7 Professional - 64bit Local db: MySQL 5.5.29
Remote OS: Linux 2.6.22.14-72.fc6 - 32 bit Remote db: MySQL 5.0.27
