My requested feature list... (tbc)

Heyas,

Here are some of my thoughts about where TOAD (all versions) should move to:

2010/03/10:
- Support Multiple databases:
I am using TOAD for DB/2 and TOAD for MySQL. I would be happy to have all functionality incooperated into one client (activated by license file) to work on MySQL and DB/2 databases simultaneously (this does not only apply to DB/s and MySQL, Oracle and SQLServer should be added, too)

- Full version control incooperation: Currently you have to have subversion/cvs/... binaries installed in your environment to perform version control operations to your repository. It would be great to see those stuff moved into a library and have it handled directly from within TOAD (not executing external commands). Additionally, ALL object types should be supported (as of now, certain object types can not be put under version control)

- Data migration between databases made easy: I often export stuff from one database and import it into another database on another machine (can be another database vendor, too, eg. Export on DB/2 --> modified import to MySQL). Often enough i need to cut TIMESTAMP's, NUMBERS or VARCHARs due to database/application limits on the target import. Whis can be quite tedious (most of the time i end up in exporting an custom made VIEW as SQL INSERT Script, piping it through some Search&Replace and execute it on the import machine)

2010/03/10:
- Automation scripts: I am using automation scripts quite often, and i do think they are a cool addition. I would like to have a print functionality which not only prints the selected automating script, but also prints the different configuration values for each node as well (eg. a "Set Variable" action should have a box attached that reads "<Variablename>" will be set to <value>") very much like the current example in the "Loop Dataset" documentation entry. Actually, constantly showing those parameters for  the actions would help ("What did i name that Variable again?"). Basically the same information that is currently shown in the onMouseOver pop-ups.

- Oh, and i would Loooove to have a native Mac OS X version :) Unfortunately, WINE emulation does not work, so i have to fire up a VM at home to work with my favorite database client. (I know thats waaaay off the road, but alas, you asked me ;))

2010/03/18:
- Version control system support got GIT -> http://git-scm.com/

These are my current thoughts. I will edit this post to add more if i have some more ideas :)

regards
/Marc
