Hi,
My site has quite a few mysql databases on various linux servers. I've got a copy of "Toad for MySQL" ver 4.6 on my windows PC.

First thing I'm trying to do is connect to a mysql db (mysqld) on a server owned by my group.

I select "Connection Manager", select "create a new connection" and a Connection box opens.

Under connection type, I'm selecting TCP, enter in the host name, username, password and the database (mysqld).

I get a pop up window "Can't connect to MySQL server on 'hostname' (10061)

Would love some advice on trouble shooting this.

Al

The username is for a current user created in that mysql instance.
database - is for a database the is within that instance - by default - mysql

Once I used the correct username/password and a valid database - I was able to connect.

Still learning.
