Views, formatting SQL

Hello,
When doing an “Alter View”, the whole view SQL gets displayed on one very long line (often 3000+ columns long!), which is not very easy to work with. Format SQL does not work (unless you remove the CREATE VIEW, etc., and just leave the actual SQL statement).
It would be very useful if the view were automatically displayed formatted so that you can actually see what it does and/or edit it.
Is there a setting for this, or should I post a feature request somewhere (I am new to Toad and this forum)?
Thanks,
Lars
