Error in Schema Compare

I've just installed Toad for MySQL 5.0.0.345. When I try to compare two schemas ("Tools-> Compare-> Schema compare" or "Schema compare-> New compare") I can't get past the "Register My SQL Databases" dialogue:

SELECT command denied to user 'my_user'@'my_local_pc' for table 'db'
Quest.Compare.Schema.MySQL.DBModel

`my_user` is the actual MySQL user and `my_local_pc` is the name of my computer but there isn't any table called `db` in any of the two databases.
This is the same error I was getting on 4.6. I've browsed the help but I cannot find any reference to it. Any clue?
