Can anyone explain the rational behind toad's weird window behaviour

Ok, I admit that its a valuable tool and pretty amazing for what is provided for free.  But I'm at a loss trying to grok the twisted logic that seems behind the windowing behavior?

Open Toad and double click on a table in object explorer.  The table's data is displayed in a window (WIN1).

Single click on another table in object explorer.  That table's data replaces the previously selected tables data in WIN1.  ODD, WHY SHOULD IT BE ASSUMED THAT I WANT TO LOSE WHAT I PREVIOUSLY SELECTED?  ESPECIALLY IF I RIGHT CLICK ON THE NEW OBJECT EXPLORER SELECTION.

Alt-Z to open new window (WIN2) that contains a duplicate of the data in WIN1 so that clicking around in object explorer does not overwrite the data in WIN1 that I am interested in.  Double click in object explorer on another table and its data now overwrites WIN2.  MORE STEPS THAN PROBABLY NECESSARY AND NOT VERY INTUITIVE BUT OK, FINE.

With WIN2 selected double or single click on new table in object explorer and WTF data in WIN1 is overwritten again.  THAT ISN'T THE ONE THAT HAD FOCUS.

Is that any way to config Toad to work as follows?

Double click on table in object explorer opens new window only when there are no open non SQL script windows.  Otherwise, data overwrites the window tab THAT PRESENTLY HAS FOCUS.

Single click on table in object explorer DOES NOT change what is in active window.

If I have window tabs open on tables when I shutdown and if upon a restart Toad is unable to simply requery (F5) and refresh the data in those tabs, close them automatically.  What is the point of having a bunch of empty non functional tabs open?  Or, what is the magic to force them to reload the data?

Actually the behavior of Toad for MySQL is very simple (Although your discussion makes it seem very complicated).

The object explorer has one window that shows what is currently focused in the list on the right. You can show the right hand side window in a separate window (Or in the object details window) by choosing that option in the right click window.

There is no option to configure this and there probably wont be because it would be even more confusing. There is an option to configure if double clicking opens up the right hand side window to show what is focused or if that will open the default action (For instance alter table).
