Migrate Data

I need to migrate a lot of data from MSSQL to MySql, but I've never done anything like this before. So how do you migrate data from MSSQL to MySql without having to retype it all? Would I use the Import Wizard for that? Do I need a special type of connector that works with both databases? Can I import from a .CSV file aslso? Do I need to do anything special to denote values in the CSV as being either numeric, date, or string?
