ubuntu 8.04 server

trying to connect to mysql (installed on a windows machine) to a database on a ubuntu server and i get this message:

Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts.

Any ideas?

Is your server set up to accept TCP connections? Also is the user defined to accept connections from anything but localhost?
