Date and DateTime format

Hi,

There are two different types in mysql, one has date only, second date and time. Why can't they be formatted separately? For my settings both look like 2012-07-26 00:00:00 what is misleading when using date only type. If time column is defined in next field it looks quite strange also. (Good that time has only 00:00:00 pattern in this case).

Cheers,
Jakub
